Dr. Femi Skanes is a passionate leader who believes that all students should have access to a quality and equitable education. Dr. Skanes is the founder of Leadership EDGE, LLC., an organization committed to developing leadership skills and advancing excellence and equity in education.
Dr. Skanes has served in many educational and academic capacities, most recently a high school principal for ten years, Dr. Skanes is well known for her commitment to revitalizing schools through goal-driven leadership and fostering positive community relationships.
Dr. Skanes completed her undergraduate studies at Tennessee State University, where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. At Concordia University, she earned two Master of Arts degrees in Reading and Education Leadership, and at National Louis University, she earned a Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership. Dr. Skanes is a recipient of numerous civic, community, and religious awards and accolades. Dr. Skanes is an accomplished mentor, speaker, writer, school leader, and author of Encouragement for the School Leader’s Soul.
As schools are trying to bounce back post-Covid, they are finding the effects of the pandemic are long lasting. Many schools are struggling with strategies for how to effectively engage with teens. This session is focused on strategies for building healthy high school models with a focus on equity, family, and student support. At the end of the session, participants will have resources that will guide their “Making High School Better” implementation plan.
