The Whole Child Compass Conference is an online learning event for anyone who works with or interacts with students in their personal or professional lives.

This conference is set to last three hours and will feature keynote speaker, Jebeh Edmunds. Following Jebeh’s presentation, the conference will give attendees the ability to explore academic, social, emotional, behavioral, or cultural breakout sessions. These sessions range from one to two hours and are intended to offer an inside look at the educational system through the eyes of current educators, leaders, explorers, and community partners who work with students and young adults every day. The breakout sessions are meant to provide attendees with a grasp on the system frameworks and give them tools for creating a healthy, productive, and action-oriented outcome for serving the whole child.

Why This Conference?

The needs of students within educational settings are constantly changing. Moreover, the needs of our students present new challenges for educators every day. In order to best serve our schools, classrooms, and students, we must continue to grow and adjust the way we communicate, guide, and teach throughout the entirety of the educational system.

This conference is here to help you navigate the struggles that we as educators, family members, and community leaders experience while we try to guide our students and young adults through this vital part of their lives. For the Whole Child Compass Conference, I have hand-selected twenty first-class educators who are not only passionate about serving their districts and communities but everyone who desires to learn and grow through the education of our children. They are educators, community leaders, and parents, who dedicate their knowledge, leadership, and hearts to making a positive change in our students’ lives. These incredible people are agents of change, child guides, ambassadors, advocates, out-of-the-box thinkers, resilient community members, data-driven problem solvers, champions for kids, and most importantly – they are people who live their lives putting the whole child first in every aspect of their careers and personal lives. They are people we can trust to educate and facilitate positive change within our communities. They are the educators with the road map to success and fortitude as our students and young adults take the next steps in their lives.

I invite you to take this professional learning journey with me and educators alike. This conference will be the first of many JJEM Education & Consulting events focusing on the Whole Child Compass. In our time together, you will learn and explore topics, practices, strategies, and systems that will enhance the work you do and support not only your way of teaching but your students as well. In celebration of our launching event, as a registrant you will have free access to all – yes, all! – session recordings from the conference after the event has ended!

So, come along for the journey with us and chart your course for the Whole Child Compass Conference. Together, we will be committed to guiding the heart of learning for every student, every day.

How to Be a Culturally Competent Classroom Leader

Jebeh Edmunds

You know the adage that first impressions are the most lasting? Educators and students alike strive always to put their best selves forward. The hiccup to where we fall flat as educators trying to be responsive to our  BIPOC colleagues and students is when your behaviors are culturally inappropriate. We will explore several situations from my personal stories and research best practices, and we will reflect if it has language that could deter your BIPOC colleagues and student community. We need to look for language that reflects a welcoming cultural environment. A company needs to develop descriptions and qualifying criteria that highlight a commitment to diversity, and this is the first step in ensuring a diverse and inclusive educational environment. This presentation will help you answer much-needed questions about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices.
